Why some shared prompts now come with a safety check
A shared prompt is an invitation: someone hands you a block of text and suggests you paste it straight into your AI assistant. That is exactly what makes prompts so useful to share — and exactly why a careless or malicious one can be risky. A prompt can try to talk your assistant out of its safety rules, quietly exfiltrate data through a connected tool, or coach you into writing something harmful.
So when you open a publicly shared prompt on Symbol, we now run an automated safety check on the prompt body before handing it to you.
What the safety check does
An AI classifier reads the prompt and assigns it a risk level — low, medium, or high — along with a short, plain-language reason. The check looks for the kinds of risk that matter when another AI runs the prompt: attempts to bypass safety guidelines, prompt-injection, data exfiltration, malware generation, and social engineering.
How each level behaves
- Low: the prompt renders exactly as before — nothing changes.
- Medium: a non-blocking caution appears above the prompt; the body stays visible and copyable.
- High: the prompt body is withheld behind a short explanation and a button. You see the risk level, the score, and the reason, and only after you acknowledge it does the prompt appear.
The check runs in the background and is cached per prompt, so it never slows down sharing or viewing. If the classifier is unavailable, the prompt still loads normally — the feature is designed to fail open rather than block your access.
A score is a signal, not a guarantee

Safety classification is automated and best-effort. It can produce false positives and false negatives: a prompt scored safe may still be risky, and a prompt scored risky may be harmless. Symbol provides the score as a convenience and accepts no liability for it. You remain responsible for reviewing any prompt before you run it.
