Plans and billing
How paid features are unlocked, how seats work, and where to find invoices.
Symbol has a free tier and paid plans. Paid features are unlocked by an entitlement, and the rule that surprises people most is which entitlement applies where.
Entitlement follows the workspace, not you
Your plan applies to your personal workspace. An organization has its own plan, paid for separately.
That means a member on a personal Pro plan is treated as free tier inside an organization workspace that has not been paid for. Paying personally does not carry your features into someone else's unpaid organization, and joining an unpaid organization does not cost you anything in your own space.
If a feature works in one workspace and not another, this is almost always why. Check which workspace you are in before anything else.
Upgrade
The upgrade page lists what each plan includes and what you are on now. Choosing a plan sends you to checkout, and you come back to a confirmation page once payment clears.
Until the payment is confirmed, nothing changes. A checkout you abandon leaves your existing plan exactly as it was.
Seats, for organizations
An organization plan is priced per seat. The billing tab shows how many seats you have and how many are in use, so you can see the headroom before inviting anyone.
Seat counts are bounded. A number outside the allowed range is rejected when you enter it, rather than accepted and failed later at checkout.
Once an organization is paid for, its members get the paid features inside that workspace, including creating projects without an upgrade prompt.
Invoices and payment details
Invoices are listed for both personal and organization plans, each with its own history.
To change a card, update a billing address, or read the full record held by the payment provider, open the customer portal from the billing page. Symbol hands you off to the provider rather than storing card details itself.
Cancelling
Cancel from the billing page. Cancelling stops the next renewal.
Your capsules are not deleted. You return to the free tier, and anything the paid plan unlocked stops being available in that workspace.
