How to export everything Symbol holds about you, and how to delete your account.
You can take your data out of Symbol at any time, and you can delete your account yourself without asking anyone.
Both are legal rights, so neither is behind a plan and neither depends on support answering you.
Exporting everything (GDPR export)
The export returns everything Symbol holds that belongs to you, not a summary of it: your capsules and their full content, the Types and projects they sit in, collections, tags and categories, references between capsules, log entries, attachments, and the aliases your capsules are reachable by.
If your capsules are encrypted, the export includes your wrapped keys. It cannot include the plaintext, because Symbol never has it.
Exports are limited to five per hour. That ceiling is separate from the normal API limits, so hitting a rate limit elsewhere never blocks you from getting your data out.
Deleting your account
Deleting is permanent and immediate. There is no grace period and no recovery.
You have to type DELETE MY ACCOUNT to confirm, and it can only be done while signed in. An API key cannot trigger it, so a leaked key cannot destroy your account.
What deletion removes
Your capsules, your Types, your projects, and everything attached to them. Your API keys, so any integration using them stops working immediately. Your encryption keys, including device links and any keys shared with a team, which is what makes encrypted content unrecoverable rather than merely hidden. Then the account itself.
Export first
Once deletion runs there is nothing left to export. If you want a copy, take the export before you delete, not after.
Deletion cannot be undone. Symbol cannot restore a deleted account, even immediately afterwards.
