Discover
Search, filter and sort what creators have published, on the web and from your AI, follow the creators you like, keep track of what you liked, and report something that should not be there.
Discover lists everything creators have made Public on Symbol: prompt libraries (a whole type or collection) and single capsules. Anyone can browse it, signed in or not. Only Public content appears. Link-only, team and private content never does. See Sharing for how something becomes Public.
Searching
Type words into Search and press Search. Discover matches them against capsule titles and text, and against the names and descriptions of libraries. A library also matches when any capsule it shows matches, but never on a capsule its page hides.
Search understands the same shapes as a web search: put words in quotes for an exact phrase, and put a minus sign before a word to leave it out. When you search, the best matches come first.
Filtering by category and tag
- Category narrows the list to content filed under one of Symbol's curated categories. A library matches when any capsule it shows carries the category.
- Tags appear as a row of chips under the search box, showing the tags most used on public content. Choose one to narrow the list, and choose it again (or All tags) to clear it.
Filters combine with a search and with each other.
Sorting
- Newest (the default) puts what was published most recently first. An item keeps its place for good: if its creator makes it private and then public again, it returns to the same position rather than jumping to the top as new.
- Popular puts the most liked and saved items first. Views only break ties, so nobody can buy a place by refreshing a page: a like or a save needs an account. Taking an item private and public again keeps its likes, saves and views.
Every choice lives in the page address, so you can bookmark or share a search, and the page heading tells you how many results it found.
Getting around
The bar at the top of Discover and of every creator's profile takes you back to Discover. When you are signed out it offers Sign in and Sign up, and either one brings you back to the page you were on. When you are signed in it offers Library, which returns you to your own content.
Each result shows its creator by the name they chose to be shown by, with their handle beside it. Select the creator to open their public profile.
From your AI
Your AI can search Discover too, with the Search public content tool. It takes the same search words, category, tag and sort as the page, and returns the same entries in the same order, each with its public page link. Try: "Find popular public prompts about cover letters." See What Your AI Can Do.
Follow creators
Follow a creator to hear when they publish something new. Their new public items appear as updates in your Inbox.
You can follow a creator from:
- their profile, at
/u/<username>; - any page they shared with you: a shared capsule, a shared Type or Collection, or one of their public pages.
Press Follow. The button changes to Following, and pressing it again stops following. If you are signed out, Follow takes you to sign in first and brings you back to the same page.
What following does and does not do:
- Only public profiles. You can follow a creator only while their public profile is on. A page shared by someone without a public profile shows no Follow button.
- New public items only. You hear about something when the creator first makes it public. Taking it private and publishing it again does not notify you a second time, and content shared only by link never notifies you.
- Your follows are yours. A creator's profile shows how many people follow them, never who. Nobody else can see whom you follow.
- A limit on churn. You can follow or unfollow up to 60 times an hour.
If a creator turns their public profile off, they drop out of the list of creators you follow, and you stop hearing about their items. Your follow comes back into effect if they turn it on again.
Your follows, and the updates you received, are included when you export your data.
Liked
When you like something on a share page, a public page or Discover, it goes on your Liked list. Open it from Liked in the sidebar (or the menu on a phone).
The list is newest first. Each item opens the creator's current version, never a copy saved at the time you liked it. What you see for each item depends on whether you can still reach it right now:
- Public: the creator published it. It opens at its public address.
- In Symbol: you can read it in Symbol, for example because it belongs to a team you are in. It opens there.
- Through a link: you liked it on a share link, and that link still works. It opens on a private page only you can reach, and opening it counts as a view of the link, as visiting the link would.
- No longer available: it was made private, the link was revoked or ran out of views, or it was deleted. The list shows only the date you liked it, nothing about what it was or who made it.
Every item has Unlike, including one that is no longer available. Load more brings in older likes.
Your AI assistant can read the same list with the list_liked tool, with the same states. See MCP tools.
Report content
If a share page, a public page, a profile or a Discover entry should not be on Symbol, report it. Look for Report at the bottom of the page, or the flag button on a Discover card.
- Choose a reason: spam or misleading, harassment or hate, impersonation, harmful or dangerous instructions, sexual content, copyright, or something else.
- Add details if they help, up to 1,000 characters.
- If you are not signed in, complete the security check.
- Send it. You will see "Reported, thank you".
What happens next:
- Only Symbol staff read reports. The creator is not told about a report and never sees one.
- You can report something only if you can see it. A link that no longer works cannot be reported, the same as it cannot be opened.
- Sending the same report again on the same day does nothing more, and there is a limit on how many reports one network or account can send.
